Amgen Scholars at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich will engage in 8 weeks of intensive laboratory research. Up to 25 undergraduates will be exposed to cutting edge science in laboratories at LMU's HighTechCampus offering a unique academic and scientific life science environment with numerous renowned life science research institutions and world leading scientists.
Amgen Scholars at LMU will conduct mentor-guided, hands-on research in the fields of biochemistry, structural, molecular, cell, and developmental biology, microbiology, neurobiology, computational neuroscience, genetics, cancer research and physiological sciences. Lectures and workshops offer insight into state-of-the art research topics, related issues such as bioethics, poster presentations, abstract writing and scientific career paths. The program begins with a four-day orientation retreat in the scenic Bavarian countryside, where Amgen Scholars are introduced to LMU site staff, affiliated faculty and relevant research topics.
