Massachusetts Institute of Technology

MIT has long been at the forefront of undergraduate research programming and looks forward to continuing that tradition as a participating member of the Amgen Foundation's new initiative.

Students participating in the MIT Amgen Scholars Program conduct research under the supervision of some of the world's foremost scholars and leading researchers, potentially including Nobel Laureates, a Charles Stark Draper Prize winner, members of the National Academy of Sciences, Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigators and Institute professors, whose titles represent the highest honor awarded to an MIT faculty member.

In addition to working alongside faculty and other researchers on innovative projects, students are fully integrated into a research community, interacting with faculty mentors and fellow undergraduates while participating in research workshops, lectures and seminars, as well as other group activities designed to foster a sense of community.

Research opportunities are anticipated to be available in a variety of appropriate disciplines. Participating faculty mentors may be drawn from the following MIT departments, laboratories and centers: Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Brain & Cognitive Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, the Harvard/MIT Division of Health Sciences & Technology, the Biotechnology Process Engineering Center, the Center for Environmental Health Sciences, Picower Institute For Learning & Memory, Clinical Research Center and other areas.

Available projects are diverse enough to accommodate both beginning and experienced researchers, and placements are made accordingly. Interested students are encouraged to visit the MIT Amgen Scholars Program Website for further details.
